Soil is one of our most precious and limited resources, often underestimated.

The data on soil consumption in Italy for the year 2021 provide yet another opportunity to reflect on sustainability and environmental issues as they relate to construction materials.

In Italy, 64 square kilometers of artificial coverings were created in a single year, surpassing the surface area of Manhattan. These current values mark the highest in the past decade.

However, do we truly need all this new covered surface?
